Industrial archeology and social anthropology are the themes explored in “Mineral Rush Flamingo Crush”, Ludovica Gioscia’s work for the open-air gallery Mangiabarche.

In one of the wallpapers, for instance, the artist has treated fragments of the gallery’s tiles as totemic elements which stand as simulacra of archeological artefacts, overlaid on the mineralogical map of Sardinia.

During her residence in the gallery, Gioscia reproduced ceramic tiles extracted from the site and imprinted them with architectural elements lifted in turn from the surrounding industrial areas.

The ceramic fragments were cemented into the flooring of Galleria Mangiabarche to replace the lifted ones, permanently bearing witness to the mineralogical activities that have shaped Sardinia’s landscape.
