KiBiSi: Silverback

At the Light+Building 2012 fair, Louis Poulsen presented Silverback, the new lamp by the Danish collective composed of Bjarke Ingels, Lars Larsen and Jens Martin Skibsted.

Silverback, the new lamp by Danish design collective KiBiSi for Louis Poulsen, was recently launched at Messe Frankfurt Light + Building 2012. The lamp is a wall and ceiling fixture, and seeks to create a new interface between light and the architectural space.

Silverback features a soft, waterdrop-like shape. The lamp combines a metallic back with an opal white diffuser: the metallic back mirrors the ceiling or wall the fixture is mounted on, providing a permanent visual detail, whether the lamp is on or off. The mirroring effect gives a unique morphed experience regardless of the background surface, structure, color or material thus allowing for potential unlimited applicability. Silverback was launched in both fluorescent and LED versions.
