Italian designer Luca Nichetto is set to present Lepel, a new chair collection for Casamania at the Salone del Mobile.

The project stems from Nichetto's desire to collaborate with Casamania in creating an effective product from different points of view. Notoriously a chair, when packed, takes up much more space than its actual volume in that you pack a seat, backrest, the feet and sometimes the armrests but a great deal of air, too.

This means oversized storage spaces and uncomfortable shipments which are detrimental to nature. Lepel is designed and developed with this in mind, in order that it can be easily stored and shipped in separate, stackable parts.

Available as both a chair and armchair, both designs are upholstered and covered with fabric and have the same aesthetic philosophy, which allows for the optimising of the production of moulds.

Lepel means "spoon" in Afrikaans: and this is the function of the two backrests, to contain and to support the seat like a spoon.
