United States Artists has announced their list of Fellows for 2011. New York-based LOT-EK, led by principals Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano, is one of 50 American artists, designers, performers and architects to receive this Ada and Giuseppe are very proud to be added to the growing list of artists recognized for their ongoing contribution to architecture and design. United States Artists (USA) is a grant-making, artist-advocacy organization dedicated to supporting America's finest artists working across diverse disciplines. Founded in 2005, USA's mission is to "illuminate the value of artists to society." USA Fellows are chosen through a highly competitive nomination, application and peer-review process. Experts across all disciplines and representing all 50 states are asked to nominate artists to apply for the award. By honoring artists as USA Fellows, USA hopes to shine a spotlight on the diversity of talented and hard-working artists across the country and remind people that art comes from artists. LOT-EK was founded in 1993 by Ada and Giuseppe and is internationally renowned as a leader in cutting-edge architectural design. LOT-EK's design philosophy emphasizes an ongoing investigation into the unexplored potential of industrial objects and technology. LOT-EK's expertise lies in its ability to reinvent environments by leveraging traditional and non-traditional materials and mechanisms. Ada & Giuseppe have embarked on a critical long-term project: Objects and Operations/O+O, the development and documentation of a theoretical and technical catalog of typologies and technologies, in which they are working to consolidate the eclectic technical expertise and situational aesthetic strategies that they have acquired in their practice. The USA Fellowship will help support the realization of O+O.
