Stefano Boeri Interiors, the international studio founded by architects Stefano Boeri and Giorgio Donà, presented the first prototype of the “Classroom of the Future” at the Collodi Primary School of the Barozzi Beltrami Institute in Rozzano, near Milan.
A new idea of learning environment that focuses on the hygiene and versatility of places of education with the aim of spreading an innovative idea of school that encourages experimentation with different didactic formats and embraces various types of activities, based on culture and entertainment. The proposal is part of Napisan’s “Hygiene Together” project and was conceived thanks to the contribution of the Municipality of Rozzano.
The proposed environment – the basic cell of school – is multifunctional and flexible, free and at the service of the community: it transforms to meet every need, becoming a music room, a craft workshop and a dance school during the day. The prototype is for Stefano Boeri “the condition to really open Italian schools to the life of their urban communities and transform them into centres of sociality and creativity”.
The project features movable walls and furniture designed to engage students. “A device,” Giorgio Donà explains, “for learning, sharing, designing and building”. The classroom is equipped with advanced technological systems designed to improve the quality of distance learning, as well as air quality.
