Inside the HDsurface showroom in via A. Volta 18, the texture of clay takes centre stage. The company, which specialises in concrete and resin, metal and lava stone surfaces, presents Argille on the occasion of Milan Design Week: a new spatulate coating obtained from a mixture of clay, plant cellulose fibre, natural lime and micronised marble powders. The granular composition makes the surfaces slightly rippled, available in 24 colour shades – from neutral to earthy tones, to blues and reds. The Milanese installation, designed by the company’s art director Marco Carini, features regular, sinuous shapes inspired by Carlo Scarpa. The space also hosts other projects by the brand: the spatulate covering of the Clay table by Desalto designed by Marc Krusin and the Diesis woven vases developed with unPizzo, a design and textile craftsmanship studio.
