Giria is the collection of plates and table accessories that Evelina Kudabaité, a Vilnius-based designer, produces herself by sourcing bark scraps from local sawmills. Dried, chopped, and mixed together with leaf dust from the country's forests, the bark is transformed into a paste that is shaped by hand by Kudabaité herself, feeding a small circular economy that transforms forest waste into a new form of craftsmanship.
Reusing bark for a line of dishes
Lithuanian designer Evelina Kudabaité uses bark and leaf waste to create a line of sustainable tableware inspired by the vitality of the forest.

Coated with a non-toxic finish, the plates and bowls have a shock resistance comparable to ceramics and are washable with a cloth, but not with a direct jet of water. Each time unique, the pieces stimulate in the designer's intentions a direct contact with nature fed by their tactile dimension.
