Mérito. The warmest adobe restaurant in Lima

Wood, stone, paper and adobe define a new restaurant designed by Ghezzi Novak + Blanco that blends architecture and food.

A new restaurant was born in Barranco, the main design district of Lima, also known all around the world as the capital of gastronomy. Mérito – this is its name – fully realizes the trend of the so-called ‘fusion’, blending food and architecture in a unique concept devoted to warmth and intimacy.

The interior design by Ghezzi Novak in collaboration with Pamela Remy of Blanco, focuses on the recovery of the raw materials of the preexistent space: adobe bricks (a mixture of clay, sand and straw widely used throughout the Andean area), wood, stone, wrought iron and paper.

The two floors of the restaurant also respond to a conceptual instance: if the first is the action plan, with a charred wood central table and a glass cover that serves as both a dining table and a kitchen top, the second is the “calmness” floor, with its exposed bricks, wooden tables and benches, and paper lamps to soften the light for an even more intimate atmosphere.
