To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Garden Egg Chair, the ADAM-Brussels Design Museum inaugurates a personal exhibition, “Peter Ghyczy: 50 years of functionalism”. The Egg Chair was designed by Ghyczy in 1968, in polyurethane, a material experimental and innovative at that time, but then it ruled the '70s. Ghyczy's goal was to create an outdoor chair that would be dry even after a rainy night in the garden. Since then, the Garden Egg chair has become an icon and is exhibited at the V&A Museum, the Wende Museum and the Holon Design Museum.

This exhibition maps the creations of the designer, providing insights and behind the scenes on the life and works of the prolific artist. The curator Kunty Moureau: “The exhibition highlights the 50 years of continuous research of the design by Peter Ghyczy to obtain an absolute simplicity of the materials and elegance of the form.” The exhibition hosts displays on the wall, video installations, and has been recreated the full-scale designer studio atelier. Peter Ghyczy comments: “My projects are oriented by their function: they are based on technical solutions that I apply in a new way, it is the force of reason that pervades design”.
