Ilkka Suppanen burns 'father's' stool Aalto

Vanishing point is the exhibition at Maison Carré, near Paris, in which Suppanen relates with his Finnish master Alvar Aalto.

First of all, the Maison Carré is a beautiful house in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne, near Paris, designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto (uniquely in France). Here, until November 26, are exhibited some of Murano's glassworks by Ilkka Suppanen, which was designated by Domus as "one of the sons of Aalto" in 1990. Also here is presented the work "Burning Aalto" (photo cover). An iconoclastic work par excellence, with which Suppanen burns the genius of the master, in order to rebuild the new from its – material -  ashes. It was a wood stool wrapped in a metal frame. After the wood it was burnt, now it is just the metal involucre.

There are also Murano glass sculptures and furnishings. Murano glass is a material that allows immortalizing moments of transformation: water that condenses, ice or blends.
