Quality and innovation, functionality and future potential are just some of the necessary requisites for winning prestigious Lucky Strike J. Designer Award. The Italian edition of the award organised by the Raymond Loewy Foundation is aimed at young designers (students or recent graduates) who are invited to submit their thesis projects (those presented between June 2007 and September 2008).

For the 2008 edition more than 37 cities will be involved with a total of over 130 schools of design. The prize for the best design is 30,000 euro. Last year it was awarded to Michele Deconcini, a student at Turin Polytechnic and designer of a quick-fitting flipper, and to Pierpaolo Filipponi from the Università degli Studi in Rome, who redesigned the classic street lamp inspired by the movement of the sunflower. Deadline for submissions is 5 October. Elena Sommariva
