Neri Pozza is to publish “Scritti” Ettore Sottsass as part of the I Colibrì series, the diary writings and thoughts of the great Italian artist, architect and designer. “Scritti 1946-2001” – edited by Milco Carboni and Barbara Radice – is not just a fascinating collection of autobiographical moments but also a convincing reconstruction of the complex events which took place in architecture and design during the second half of the twentieth century.
Sottsass reveals himself through his fragmented style, deconstructed but communicative and loaded with meaning. Like a talented amateur might do, “I am writing a story which in the end is of a dilettante, given that I’m just good at drawing”, he says of himself in a now famous entry.
