Brand new design combined with advanced technology. The new iMac presented last Monday in San Francisco by Steve Jobs is totally different from the PCs that we have become used over the years. Its shape resembles more that of a table lamp – even though the designers claim that they were inspired by the sunflower – with a round base which contains the hard disk and a movable arm which supports an ultra flat liquid crystal screen.
Next to this, the old iMac, launched by the Cupertino company in 1998 and having now reached sales of around six million, will become something of a “museum piece”, With an 15” LCD screen, Power PC G4 processor (from 700 to 800MHz), CD, DVD and the new OS X operational system as well as two firewire portals, 4 USB portals and Ethernet connection, the new iMac will be on sale in the US from the end of January for between 1299 and 1799 dollars.
