The second Portuguese Design Biennial will be presenting to an international audience of architects, designers and artists an ambitious and full programme based on the theme "Modus Operandi". In other words the design process in creative contemporary production, an interdisciplinary approach, the influence of new technology, production processes, the relationship with the urban environment.

The 2001 edition of the Portuguese event is dedicated to architecture, design, graphics, video and new media – held in Lisbon from 16 September to 31 October – with a series of conferences and workshops held by well known architects and designers, exhibitions centred on the latest work of up and coming European designers, the design process in the making of a film and new work from Portuguese designers.
