“For us the “TT” is a symbol, a milestone”. These are the words of Peter Schreyer, aged 47, director of design at Audi. “With its style” he continues “it has been possible to develop a stronger formal language. It is however a model which only interests a small portion of the market”. Enough however to inspire the lines of the new “A4”. According to Schreyer, “The “A4” has to reach a much wider public and so we have had to update its expressive “vocabulary”; certainly some elements are derived from the “TT” such as the typically Audi front”.
But there are other makers who are being inspired by Audi’s design, for example Ford with the new “Mondeo”. “The fact that the competition is looking at what is happening at Ingolstadt is for us an incitement to pursue our line” replies the German designer “even though naturally we take into consideration the advantage acquired on other producers”.
