The American Institute of Graphic Arts has opened an interesting show on posters in Cuba, used by Castro not only to promote films but also Cuban culture and its social ideals. Alfred Rostgaard, Eduardo Munoz Bachs and other Cuban artists have created some lithographs, which have incorporated elements of American Pop Art and Japanese, Czechoslovakian and Polish design, producing works of great value. A production that terminated at the end of the Nineties with the fall of the Soviet Union and, therefore, of the cinematic industry and the Cuban economy in general. "Propaganda! Cuban Political and Film Posters" shows 100 original posters, that represent a precious example of the island's artistic culture, for the first time in New York until June 29.
