Designer, architect, theorist and artist, Mendini has worked – alone, with Alchimia and now with Atelier Mendini and his brother Francesco – on many different fronts: transversely, but always in his peculiar striking and distinctly recognizable style. Now the exhibition “Alessandro Mendini tra le arti”, curated by Peter Weiss, which recently opened at the Basilica Palladiana and will later be moving on to Spain and Germany, is intended to provide a selective overview of these past thirty years of intense activity. On view are 150 works comprising paintings, drawings, silkscreen prints, architectural models, ceramics, sculptures and design objects.
While the exhibition is in Münster, the big “Munster Arch” will be opened, giving the city a new urban symbol. In addition, a design performance inspired by the “Mendini style” will be given in the theatre there.
On the occasion of this exhibition, a book, with the same title and in four languages, likewise edited by Weiss, has been published by Electa.
