Doors of Perception (Doors) is an international conference and a network of information and knowledge. Since 1993, Doors has been a worldwide meeting place for connecting design and innovation, ideas and debate, new media, culture and art in order to highlight the evolution of design as well as investigate its causes. Doors of Perception also attempts to suggest more valuable uses for the Internet than most of e-commerce and entertainment services now being offered. Doors of Perception, a quote by Blake, has been an independent non profit making foundation since January 2000. Finding ways to reduce the flow of energy and material in our daily life is an interesting opportunity for design. The subject of Doors of Perception 6: LIGHTNESS. The topic will develop three lines over three days: Dimensions of lightness, Perceptions of Lightness e Applications of Lightness. John Thackara, Doors of Perception director, will open the conference with an interview on the following aspects: Why is 'lightness' important? What does it have to do with the Internet?
