Opened in February 2025 by Anni Wu — following years in the Modern and Contemporary Art Department at Sotheby’s Milan — Limbo positions itself as a space of pause and reflection: an in-between territory that embraces the uncertainty and transformation of our present time. The gallery is dedicated to ultra-contemporary research and artistic practices that explore urgent themes such as ecology, technology, and the human condition, with a strong curatorial vision and a focus on post-human imaginaries.

The inaugural exhibition Falene draws inspiration from the moth — a liminal creature born of metamorphosis, existing between day and night — to express Limbo’s emerging identity and experimental approach. Featuring works by Ludovica Anversa, Federico Arani, and Leilei Wu, the show brings together painting, sculpture, and installation united by a shared tension toward hybridity and contamination. Their figures and settings hover in states of transition, celebrating layers of meaning and value beyond simplistic dichotomies, while resonating with the principles of dark ecology and postnatural theory.
