Morandi as seen by Ghirri at the Philosophy Festival

Luigi Ghirri (1943-1992), his original way of looking at places and objects and the work of Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964) are the theme of the exhibition “Il senso delle cose” curated by Ernesto Tuliozi. The exhibition offers a chance for the public to acquaint themselves with an old project that was begun in the 1980s. In 1989, Ghirri was invited by the foundation, along with the writer Giorgio Messori, to visit places related to Morandi such as his home-studio in Bologna and his summer house in the hills.

The initiative gave rise to a unique collection of photographs, 600 in all, that were never shown before their author died in February 1992. On show are around fifty images alongside twenty paintings by Morandi in an exhibition that reveals two great artists from Emilia, presented to coincide with the philosophy festival. E.S.
