Maurizio Pellegrin in Venice

In early September, the Venice of the film festival and the art biennial is inaugurating another interesting art itinerary. It is a route through calli and fondamenta prepared by Maurizio Pellegrin that invites you to pass through the doors of eight of the city’s museums. Some are well known (e.g. Correr museum and Palazzo Ducale) and are on the main tourist circuits; others will be true revelations.

The Venetian artist has conceived and created specific works for each one. Installations, films, sculptures and photographs are to be found in the Museo Storico Navale (where Pellegrin is showing a film projected onto the iron wreck of the Elettra, Guglielmo Marconi’s boat) and the picture gallery of the Correr museum (where four old paintings receive different treatments from the artist). A film telling the tale of an impossible love is being projected directly onto an old cupboard in Palazzo Ducale, and 120 balls of cotton yarn are exhibited in the lovely rooms of the Cà Pesaro museum of oriental art.
