How have Einstein’s theories changed the way we perceive reality? This question forms the basis of “Time/Space, Gravity and Light”, an exhibition conceived as an ideal continuation of “Einstein” – also showing at the Skirball until May 29. Artistic and scientific studies are here placed on the same plane, according to Thomas Crow (of the Getty Research Institute, partner in the initiative). They are both aimed at creating visions of what is real, open and changing, utilising however the rational language of logic (mathematics for Einstein, technology for artists). The multimedia installations – Listening Post by Mark Hansen and Ben Rubin; Protrude, Flow by Sachiko Kodama and Minako Takeno; The Ambiguous Icons by Jim Campbell – describe in their own unique way concepts such as time, gravity and perception.
