All the great masters of twentieth century art are on the roll call – from Duchamp to De Chirico, Magritte, Fontana, Moranti, Rochwell, Warhol and Basquiat – all of whom at one point of another tried their hand at the self portrait. Their faces come together in an exhibition entitled “Moi. Autoritratti del XX secolo”, at the Galleria degli Uffizi (running until 9 January). Conceived and organised by Pascal Bonafoux, the exhibition follows on from one in Paris. Of the 150 chosen by Bonafoux for ‘Moi’, around ten come from the Florence museum (that currently holds 1,320 artists’ portraits), such as a fine self portrait of Giorgio Morandi from 1924 and one by Marc Chagall, a magic and dreamlike vision carried out between 1959 and 1968.
