Bamako at Barcelona

The Centre of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona continues to look at art from Africa, following the exploration of contemporary creativity begun in 2001 with the exhibition “Africa, the artist and the city”, attention is now turned to photography. More precisely, that presented in the recent “Recontres de la Photographie Africaine de Bamako”, a two yearly event that in five editions over the course of ten years has managed to earn itself a reputation and recognition at an international level.

On show we find a selection of interesting works – snapshots, works of art or current affairs – together with images by Mozambique photographer Ricardo Angel, legendary figure of the ex Portuguese colony and point of reference in African contemporary photography. The exhibition will then move to Milan and Rennes. E.S.
