“Atto Unico” is the title of a large installation by Jannis Kounellis which takes up the entire floor of the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna (Gnam) in Rome. Described by the artist himself as a “labyrinth”, made up of 2.4m high walls inside of which pieces of work carried out over the past years have been hung by butcher’s hooks.
The exhibition, set up by Gnam, is intended as a homage to the over forty year career of the Greek artist, one of the leading exponents of Arte Povera who since 1957 has been living in Rome.

Kounellis is one of the Italian artists who has shown most frequently in museums all over the world, he has taken part in the Venice Biennale seven times and twice in Documenta in Kassel.
Opening 20 April in Belgium is another exhibition of his work, at the Stedelijk Museum vor Aktuelle Kunst in Gent.
