Convergence and contamination of new media, architecture and contemporary art, comparison and contrast between Korean and Western artists, are at the heart of the latest explorations on offer at this Korean event.
The proposed theme, “city: between 0 and 1” unites the two main issues of the entire manifestation: the emerging electronic culture and the contemporary city. The results are in the form of installations, videos, and digital photographs, multimedia and interactive pieces which work on the new symbols of communication and the urban landscape.
Organised in five sections, the Biennale uses both its institutions and original locations such as underground railway tunnels to show the work of a number of innovative artists, including Laurie Anderson, Vito Acconci, Zaha Hadid, Pipilotti Rist and Nam June Paik.
