Costructura Consulting group has restored the first functional lot of the Mugnone Theatre in Marcianise, in the province of Caserta, Italy. The building, realized in 1920 by Comencini and dedicated to Leopoldo Mugnone, Master of the orchestra of San Carlo in Naples, has been renovated through the enhancement of the original structure started in 2016. The project has eliminated the additions of the ’70s that transformed the building into a cinema, including the concrete attic, and recovered the historic rooms: from the tripartite foyer on the ground floor – with access to the boxes on the upper floors and the stalls – to the gallery and attic floor, reserved for the theatre museum.
The porticoed atrium outside, covered with natural lime plaster, returns to being an urban square open to the city, as originally conceived. The mouldings on the facade and the stuccoes inside re-emerge.
