“Non Standard” architectures at the centre Pompidou

The two Paris exhibitions monopolizing the Centre Pompidou for the months of February and March could not be more different. A retrospective curated by Julie Sylvester is devoted to the graphic works of Cy Twombly (through March 29), featuring approximately 80 drawings, some never before exhibited and all produced between 1953 and 2002. They demonstrate a considerable interest in works on paper on the part of this most ‘European’ of American artists, a friend of Rauschenberg and pupil of Franz Kline. In the 1950s he settled in Italy, where he was awarded a Golden Lion in 2001.

In contrast, an exhibition organized by Frédéric Migayrou casts a glance into the future; through March 1 it brings together the Architectures Non Standard of a dozen or so international names: Asymptote, dECOI, DR_D, Greg Lynn, Kol/Mac Studio, Kovac, NOX, Objectile, Oosterhuis, R&Sie, Servo and UN Studio.
