Architectural light and shadow

Taking into consideration that light and shadow are two faces of the same coin and that they complement each other, the exhibition to be inaugurated at the Deutsches Architektur Museum of Frankfurt on 22 March proposes to analyse the light-architecture relationship under many different aspects. The exhibition has been made possible due to the contribution of different professionals consisting of photographers, architects, designers, philosophers, and historians of architecture. Thus, offering the chance to reflect on some themes: from the viewpoint that there are always more artificial lights to the analysis that transparency is becoming more diffused in architecture.

This will lead to the conclusion that if we continue along this path the areas of shadow on the Earth will completely disappear. The organisers ask: “Do we really need shadows?” “And, if yes, why?”
