“Lockdown made everyone to take a fresh look at their homes, which we know have become places for study, work and getting together in the evening. Even bedrooms have adapted to these new rhythms, and from rooms dedicated to rest they have also become workspaces for many people, especially those who are smartworking and living in small settings,” says Elisabetta Bolzan, founder of Bolzan Letti together with her mother Emilia in the early 1990s. The company returns as usual to the Salone del Mobile, this year from 7 to 12 June, with many new products that rethink the bedroom.

Among the protagonists of the exhibition at the Rho Fair (PAD 10 stand C6) we will find Gabri, the first bed designed by Matteo Zorzenoni for Bolzan Letti: a piece of furniture that exalts the artisan vocation of the Veneto-based company and the centrality of upholstery, from fabric to leather, in its history and catalogue.

“The objective – explains Zorzenoni – was to interpret Bolzan Letti and its rootedness in that special, all-Italian world where craftsmanship and industry meet to give life to furniture with a strong manufacturing imprint. We also wanted to add a new chapter of contemporary design to the history of a company that has maintained the centrality of upholstery in its catalogue since its birth.”

The most striking and representative detail of the product are the special grooves near the corners which, besides representing a distinctive aesthetic note, are designed to facilitate the act of making the bed. “Gabri was my mother Maria's nickname: when I would show her my designs, she would pay close attention to functionality before aesthetics,” says Zorzenoni

The profile of the bed is a single flowing line that runs along the entire perimeter and in the headboard evokes the idea of an enveloping embrace. Together with the bed, Bolzan presents a series of accessories that follow its style: an accessory shelf to be attached to the bed frame, a bench and a small round table, available in two sizes.
