The outdoor pools at Capri's Hotel Scalinatella are characterised by the unique decorative patterns of the Vetrite laminated glass sheets, produced by the Italian company Sicis.

Capri's Hotel Scalinatella is a place that best represents the Mediterranean imagery and lifestyle of the island, which exerts a unique charm all over the world. The atmosphere experienced in the hotel, built in the 1950s, is timeless: the terraces overlooking the Bay of Marina Piccola, the lush gardens, the choice of white and blue as the dominant colours... from the landscape to every detail of the furnishings.

The boutique hotel recently renovated its outdoor swimming pools, turning what could have been a normal maintenance operation into an opportunity to further embellish the site's outdoor spaces. All this thanks to the collaboration of an Italian company, Sicis, and its Vetrite collection, composed of laminated glass sheets with bewitchingly coloured decorations inside.

The product patented by the Ravenna-based company is characterised by extraordinary flexibility of use: facades, parapets, solar panels and - as in the case of the hotel in Capri - even swimming pools. Vetrite has obtained several certifications thanks to its great resistance to impact and tensile strength, making it safe and versatile, as well as aesthetically appealing.

The product's technical performance also includes resistance to moisture and chemicals such as chlorine - making it perfect for underwater use. For this project, three different types of sheets were selected. The Clouds colour with its intense green that gives the pool emerald reflections, Galaxy in shades of blue and silver inspired by the bright and remote galaxies, and Reef that takes inspiration from the depths of the ocean and the magnificent colours of coral reefs. The slabs, available in the large 120*280cm format, have been cut into square surfaces to create a unique decorative pattern that seems to be inspired by Rorschach's spots. The pools are completed by walls covered with Sicis mosaic, in shades that harmonise perfectly with the colours of Vetrite, creating an ambience of rare beauty and timeless luxury.

Hotel Scalinatella was the first subject of experimentation in this field, but the company is intent on continuing this path with other innovative projects, such as the realisation of backlit Vetrite swimming pools. Because what really characterises Vetrite and Sicis is the ability to adapt to every request and project.
