The first horizontal stacking seat presented by Herman Miller allows easy reconfiguration of space for different uses.

Pragmatic and multifaceted at the same time, workspace furniture is among those that have seen the most sudden evolution in recent years. The diverse possibilities for hybridisation and intersections – between home and office, between individual and collective spaces and between work and leisure – invite designers to the freest experimentation.

Today's professionals require flexible workplaces, including dedicated offices and multi-purpose spaces, where seating that combines ergonomics and refined aesthetics is needed. The furniture must be able to ensure that the office space can be reconfigured for different uses, such as group meetings, company training courses and educational events, without sacrificing style.

Herman Miller embraces this attitude with its new Fuld chair, designed by Stefan Diez. It is an innovative horizontal stacking chair with a sleek, minimalist design that allows flexible configurations for workspaces.

“I am thrilled to have designed the first nesting chair for Herman Miller,” says Stefan Diez. “There's no other company that cares so much about engineering and quality. It's very supportive, it's quite unparalleled, very forward-thinking. The collaboration with Herman Miller never feels like it's driven by constraints, but driven more by an idea. It's clear what we're working for: The product that comes out from the process is not a product that is a compromise, and that's what I love.”

Instead of the typical X-shape of a stackable chair, the Fuld seat shape consists of a simplified inverted-Y line with tubular armrests. The backrest has a touch of elasticity that allows you to be comfortable while moving around. With its exclusive lines and variety of colours, the reinvented seat base enlivens any space, even outdoors.

The Fuld chair is characterised by its pioneering one-piece construction, in which the backrest, armrests and rear legs are made from a single piece of material. The seat comprises only two materials, ensuring easy recycling at the end of its life.

The product will be available for purchase by Contract customers through Herman Miller and MillerKnoll dealers. For more details, visit the Herman Miller website.
