Hines and MUBA present "Planet 30", an initiative created to tell Milanese school children about the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Stimulating reflection, planning and action for the improvement of society, and educating in the values of acceptance, participation, tolerance, solidarity, and social commitment. These are the themes addressed by "Planet 30", the first project realised as part of the collaboration between Hines and MUBA-Museo dei Bambini Milano, aimed at promoting cultural and educational projects dedicated to the theme of sustainable development.
"Pianeta 30" is a project that is developed in three declinations: the publication of an interactive illustrated book in two languages, Italian-English, an exhibition-game that can be visited free of charge at the MUBA premises (in via Enrico Besana 12, Milan), and a programme of educational workshops, which involve 50 classes in the Milan municipality over the course of the 2022-2023 school year.
The goal of the initiative is to bring the new generations closer to the themes of the UN 2030 Agenda and thus increase knowledge and dissemination of its 17 goals. Inside the book, these are illustrated by paper artist Isadora Bucciarelli and narrated in a light and poetic way by Massimiliano Tappari. The two authors address children with an immediate language for the synthesis capacity and the symbolic value of the images, designed to stimulate their imagination.
The exhibition, which will remain open and can be visited free of charge until June 2023, presents some illustrations from the book, transformed into playable installations for schools, during the week, and at weekends also for families.
The book will be distributed to all the pupils of the 50 classes involved in the project thanks to the support of the Milan City Council's Education Department, with the aim of contributing with a medium-long term initiative to the reduction of the factors of exclusion and marginalisation in access to culture, with particular attention to the schools in the area that need more support. "Pianeta 30" will thus reach the school desks of about 1,000 primary school students in Milan and will be used by MUBA educators during workshop activities that will extend over the entire 2022-2023 school year.
The comment by the Deputy Mayor of Milan and Councillor for Education, Anna Scavuzzo, sums up the relevance of the project: "Boys and girls who are increasingly aware today of the beauty of caring for the environment will be able to be more responsible adults tomorrow: projects such as 'Planet30' help us work on the SDGs and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda not only with words and theories, but with facts, activities and actions, which become educational and didactic projects that accustom them to respect, care, and attention that everyone can have, from a very young age."
Mario Abbadessa, Senior Managing Director & Country Head of Hines, underlined how "the reactivation of unused or degraded places is an objective that can only be achieved through the active participation of the people who live there today, but even more of those who will have to look after and preserve them tomorrow. This is the logic that guides us in supporting the development of civic sense in young people, a commitment that, thanks to the collaboration with MUBA, we have the opportunity to expand throughout the entire territory of the city of Milan".
The President of MUBA, Cinzia Cattoni, said : "The partnership with Hines has allowed us to plant the first seeds for dissemination with the creation of the interactive book and the game-exhibition, deliberately located in the free use area of the museum because can be seen and appreciated by as many people as possible. We are happy to have found an ally for the promotion of cultural projects”.
