The magic of ancient Egypt at the Civico Museo Archeologico of Milan

With the exhibition “Sotto il cielo di Nut”, extended until January 30, 2022, the museum offers a journey of discovery into the spirituality of ancient Egypt.

The Civico Museo Archeologico in Corso Magenta Milan continues its activity dedicated to ancient Egypt. Charm, mystery, spirituality. Extended until 30 January 2022, the exhibition reopens to the public with new beautiful displays. The unique artifacts of the first edition from the Egyptian Museum of Turin, the National Archaeological Museum of Florence, the Civic Archaeological Museum of Bologna, the J.J. Wincklmann Museum of Trieste and the Museum of Archaeology of the University of Pavia make space for the equally important and fascinating works from the collection of the Civic Archaeological Museum of Milan.

The restored Amduat papyrus, a female head with a unique vulture headpiece, and a stele from the collection of Edda Bresciani, the renowned Italian Egyptologist who died last year, are returned to public view. 150 works illustrating and evoking the fascinating world of ancient Egypt, including bronze statues, votive reliefs, sarcophagi and a variety of funerary objects. The exhibition also includes an interactive 3D tour illustrating the history of ancient funerary rituals. Magical deities of the Nile Valley share the ancient and timeless wisdom of a unique population that played a very special role in the history of humankind. From Christianised obelisks to Mozart’s Magic Flute, the path to wisdom always passes through Egypt.
