From 22 June to 16 September 2022. Palazzo Reale will be playing host to the anthological exhibition Grazia Varisco – Contemporary Journeys 1957-2022, dedicated to the extraordinary Milanese artist and leading figure in the Italian contemporary scene.

Promoted and produced by the Municipality of Milan | Culture, Palazzo Reale and the Varisco Archive, the exhibition will present more than one hundred and fifty works looking back over the research and experimentation carried out by the artist.

Curated by Marco Meneguzzo, the exhibition documents more than sixty years of activity of one of the most important representatives of international visual arts. It focuses on a cross-section of the rich and complex universe of themes and experimentation in form that have characterised Varisco’s artistic excursus, where material works and magnetic tables express representations of Space and Time that the artist has always sought to express.

With Schemi Luminosi Variabili (1962-1969), presented at the Venice Biennial on three different occasions, including the 2022 edition, Varisco experimented with materials far removed from conventional artistic production, such as blue acrylic, electric motors and neon lights, creating constantly changing images.

The generous spaces of Palazzo Reale, with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo, play host to a complete reconstruction of the entire excursus of the artist; a “contemporary” journey of exploration that explains and presents an artistic experience that is multi-sensorial and material.
