In 2009, American designers Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak met two brothers of Czech origin, Pavel and Petr Hanousek, manufacturers of blown glass. From this collaboration was born SkLO, a brand specialising in glass processing with its creative headquarters in Healdsburg, California, but which produces its products in the Czech Republic. Translated into Czech SkLO means "glass", in homage to the deep-rooted local tradition of the manufacture of decorative glass, existing since the 13th century in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia. “Our goal is to express the fact that our work is handmade, that it is the result of an ancient Craft still practiced today by some of the best artisans in the world. We embrace the inherent imperfection and irregularity in the process we seek to embody in our designs,” say the founders of SkLO.

From 6 to 10 September 2019, the Czech brand will be present at Maison&Objet, the international exhibition dedicated to furniture, decoration and interior design, to show its lamp collection SkLO:Lit and the accessories of the series SkLO:Object. The protagonist of the stand will be an installation made up of Bloom wallpieces. These are irregular glass bubbles organically composed with different shades of blue, as if to give shape to syncopated and melancholic jazz notes. Another product on show for the first time in Paris is Double Vessels, consisting of two tapered containers blown separately and joined together while they are still warm. Two complementary elements with opposite shades that add colour to the spaces and show the skills of the company's glass blowers.
