Koto Design, a collective design studio based in Belfast and Westward Ho!, England, has designed a kids’ playhouse that serves as a “space for children and adults alike to shelter in nature”. The small cabin is timber clad with a mono-pitched roof and falls in line with the nordic style of other design cabins by Koto, but unlike them it’s open on one side and built to merge seamlessly with the surrounding environment, thus letting kids immerse in the natural landscape around them while playing. ILO, which means joy in Finnish, may appear fragile and a bit too open to winds and rains as well, but Koto Design maintains it’s been built to withstand even the harshest weather. Price is upon request, with additional options for site specific bespoke designs and planning services.
