Zero Labs is making an all-electric Ford Bronco

In a triumph of vintage-chic aesthetics, an American startup retrofits older cars to give them a new electric future.

U.S. startup Zero Labs is building a limited batch of 150 “classic” Ford Bronco with a new EV powertrain, a futuristic dashboard and many adaptations. It’s an interesting concept that tries to tackle the niche market of restored vehicles with an EV twist. Except for the design and the look and feel, only a few elements of the original Bronco make the leap to the futuristic EV version. The body is now made of aerospace-grade carbon fibre, the transfer case is a two speed Atlas, brakes are from Brembo and the suspensions are from Fox. The car comes equipped with a 70kWh battery with an expected range of 190 miles (305km), powering a 360 hp motor and a torque of 375Nm.
Reservations are open, but Zero Labs hasn’t announced a price yet. It’s made clear though that the EV Ford Bronco, like every high-end limited edition restoration, will not be cheap. According to the company’s FAQ page, the final price will sit somewhere between $160.000 and $300.000.
