Patricia Urquiola renews the weaving technique

The Spanish designer presented at the Salone del Mobile a chair collection for Janus et Cie suitable for indoor and outdoor environments.

The combination of solid frames and light, semi-transparent weaves characterises the Anatra collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola for Janus et Cie and presented at the Salone del Mobile 2019. Elegant and comfortable, the furnishings reinterpret a craft technique that distinguishes the firm.

“Anatra comes from my desire to play and experiment with the weaving,” says Urquiola. “I wanted to find the perfect balance between lightness and strength to translate the concept of comfort into seats with generous volumes and enveloping lines.”

At the Salone, Janus et Cie presented two other collections: Rock Garden, designed by architect André Fu, is a series of furnishings that combine soft shapes and angular geometries: Palma, instead, is a collection of “retro-chic” tables and chairs conceived by the founder Janice Feldman.
