The Model Y is Tesla’s new mid-size SUV

Elon Musk introduced the electric carmaker's answer to the growing competition in the electric SUV segment.

After months of anticipation, Tesla unveiled its Model Y, a new car model that’s bound to compete in the growingly popular mid-size electric SUV market. “Spacious enough to carry seven adults and their gear”, the Model Y sports a high-efficiency powertrain and ultra-responsive motors for superior performance and great handling. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in as little as 3.5 second (Performance variant only) with a top speed of 150mph. Tesla will provide a choice between two battery sizes: Standard, with a range of 230 miles, Long Range, with a range of up to 300 miles on a single charge.
The Model Y will be available in four variants. The Performance, Long Range RW Drive and the Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive will get into customers’ garages around Fall 2020. Deliveries for the cheaper Model Y Standard Range (starting at $39.000) will begin roughly six months later, in spring 2021.
