Motorola Moto G7, one smartphone, four different models

From the high-performance Plus to the economic Play, as well as a standard version and the Power model with a larger battery, the new telephone that aims to please everyone.

There are brands such as Samsung which catalog ranges from 179 euros for the Galaxy j4+ (the economic sector) to 1,599 euros for the Galaxy S10+ (top range), due for launch on 8 March. Then there are those who present a single product aimed at covering various ranges, such as Motorola. Acquired by Lenovo, the company is currently focusing on low- and mid-range units, with a single product offered in four different forms, the Moto G7.

Recently released also in Italy, this smartphone has just one name, but comes in four different guises. The most interesting is the Moto G7 Plus, the most powerful, a device which, for 319.99 euros satisfies the demands of users who want to enjoy multimedia content, apps and websites without problems of performance and without spending a fortune. The 6.2-inch Full HD+ panoramic screen (19:9) has just a mini notch at the top of the screen.

The most interesting aspect however is the double rear camera. A 16-megapixel sensor with optical stabiliser (and f/1.7 aperture) takes the main shot, while the second 5-megapixel camera handles details and depth. In the front is a 12-megapixel camera for sharp, quality selfies. Furthermore, artificial intelligence provides assistance for less experienced photographers. Once the picture has been taken, the subject is automatically positioned according to the classic “rule of thirds” for photographic compositions.

The Plus is the outsider of the quartet. The other three have a lot more in common and have either fewer or different components than the Plus. A step below the Plus is the standard Moto G7. It has the same display, a less powerful processor (Snapdragon 632 instead of 636), and the same RAM and memory (4 GB and 64 GB). The camera is dual again (5 megapixel and 12-megapixel f/1.8), but it is without optical stabilisation, and costs 70 euros less (249.99 euros).

Then we have the Power, a strange model which focuses everything on its 5000 mAh mega battery - all the others have a 3000 mAh power pack - which means this model can boast more than two days’ autonomy. The 229.99-euro price tag also reflects the difference in hardware. The display is 6.2 inches, but the resolution is HD+ (lower than Full HD), RAM and memory remain at 4 GB and 64 GB, but there is just one 12-megapixel camera on the back, with an 8 megapixel sensor on the front.

The last in the group is the Moto G7 Play, which is the cheapest. The screen is smaller (the only one with 5.7-inch HD+), RAM and memory are lower (2 GB and 32 GB), the rear camera is 13 megapixels and the front one is 8 megapixels. It is considered an entry-level model, and its 189.99-euro price tag reflects this. Each to one’s own, but all with the same name.
