Sonos Ace are the company’ first headphones

Sonos Ace is a beautifully designed wearable device, but only partially able to connect with your Sonos home audio system.

World renowned for its wireless home audio devices, Sonos has officially launched Sonos Ace, its first wearable device, a set of high-end headphones. It’s a feature-rich product that will compete directly with Apple's AirPod Pro Max and Sonys WH-1000XM5.

Sonos Ace sport a minimal design, in line with the company’s signature aesthetics, and several advanced functionalities to set them apart from other offerings in the market.

Made from high-end materials, Sonos’ headphones come equipped with Active Noise Cancellation, Dolby Head Tracking spatial audio, and beam-forming microphones for crystal clear calls.

They connect to the audio source via Bluetooth, with advanced features available through the Sonos app. They won’t connect via wifi to a pre-existing Sonos system, with one notable exception. Users who already own an Arc-compatible soundbar can swap audio from the bar to the headphones with just a long press of the control button. Later this year, Sonos will also enable a new TrueCinema feature, which maps the audio space through the users' home cinema systems and adapts the headphones’ surround with the actual space around the user.

The control interface is also quite minimal. A multi-function "Content Key" on the right cup button doubles as a slider for volume control and a regular press key to control playback. The Noise Control button, also on the right cup, toggles between the ANC and Aware mode settings, while the Power/Bluetooth key on the left cup can be used to turn Sonos Ace on/off and pair them with Bluetooth devices.

Sonos peppered the simple and minimal design of the Sonos Ace with some clever design touches, like the right and left cup cues. Instead of using prominent markings, Sonos’ designers used a different color for the right cup mesh, matching the interior of the headphones’ pouch.

Sonos Ace will be available from June 5 with a retail price of $449.
