The five projects awarded in the “Installations” category were Nomad Assembly (h3o Architect and + DFMD) at Mercat dels Encants, Permanently Temporary (KOSMOS and PARABASE) in the Gran Clariana park, Mamífera (Equal Saree) on Gran Via, Feral Surfaces (Harrison Atelier) at Coberta parking Ona Glòries, and Free Air (Daryan Knoblauch) at Plaça de Josep Antoni Coderch next to Disseny Hub, the Barcelona Design Museum.
The installations were used as actual locations of the festival and activated by debates, performances and round tables with significant architects of Barcelona and foreign guests. But they also hosted dj-sets, parties and dancing, entertainment and the architecture book fair.
This year’s theme was “Empatia radical” (radical empathy), a fundamental impulse to recognize the needs of others people in an authentic way and from which to start a deep reflection on contemporary design.
