Studio Beltrame has designed in Tarvisio, Italy, the Ice Bridge, a circular suspended platform that covers an overhang radius of 10 meters and can change function in different seasons. In winter, when frozen, it turns into an ice-skating rink, while in summer can host events and group activities.
The main concept is to serve as a gathering point, inviting to interact, enjoying the view. The foundamental idea, in fact, comes from the unique geographical location of Tarvisio, which represent a junction between the borders of three countries: Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The architects decided to coat the bridge in euro-blue matte steel, as a reminiscence of the European Union flag: a metaphor for bringing people together while celebrating the location.

The aim of the project was to creat a place rather than only a passage, a small and suspended piazza between the town and the ski slopes, where is possible to slow down, have a conversation, breathe and to look at the surrounding mountains, becoming one with the landscape.

Marble matters– exploring Carrara’s legacy
Sixteen young international architects took part in two intensive training days in Carrara, organized by FUM Academy and YACademy, featuring visits to the marble quarries and a design workshop focused on the use of the material.
