Swedish designer Sanna Völker created a series of candle holders and vases in raw stone that seem like they’re firmly trapping suspended objects.

Using carved and raw stones, Swedish designer Sanna Völker created the Snug series for Danish brand Bolia: a handcrafted candle holder and a vase that seem like firmly trapping objects.

The candle holder has the ability to appear rustic and embellished, or simple and neat. The candles seem to be captured by the material, in a loose yet sturdy embrace. The prototypes were developed by the artisan stonemason Granits Barbany, familiar in creating sculptures for the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. The Snug vase continues the formal concept used for the candle holder, consisting of a rectangular stone that captures a glass tube. The combination of materials give the vase a minimalist statement and it can be used with a small selection of flowers or a single leaf.
