Loopless and buckleless

Swiss startup Noomoon asked Benjamin Hubert to design a special self-gripping strap for iWatches that is injection moulded and doesn’t need complex buckles or loops.

Benjamin Hubert and design agency Layer designed LABB – Loopless And Buckleless Band – an injection moulded self-gripping strap for the new generations of Apple Watches. It uses a robust and easy-to-use fastening system in which the two halves of the strap simply grip along their entire surface for maximum traction and to avoid the need for complex buckles and loops.

LABB is the first product for the Swiss start-up Noomoon, which has received backing from watchstrap experts Brasport Group. The newly patented strap will launch on a dedicated Kickstarter campaign.

The  strap has a regular pattern of corresponding holes and protruding elements that grip together along the entire surface. The two halves of the strap have been designed to instantly and firmly lock together, with a microscopic latching texture on the fastening elements that strengthens the bond. It is available in five colours – black, navy, olive, red and white – that can be mixed and matched.
