With Dining shore, Sarah Hurtigkarl aims to question our dining habits borrowing from nature and using its principles to re-evaluate the function and appearance of everyday objects.

With the dinner table as the territory of exploration, the work rethinks the concept and rituals of dining.
Dining shore explores themes, which move, between existence and non-existence. It explores differences between natural forms and man-made objects to create something, which inhabits the in-between. Borrowing from nature and using its principles to re-evaluatie the function and appearance of familiar everyday objects, also questioning everyday dining rituals, and our behavior as we interact with the table, it’s objects and utensils.

“I seek to imbue my objects with a natural agency derived from my own imaginary narrative. Inanimate objects are given a soul, a secret life that exists in a realm beyond our own reason. With the work I wish to create a present experience of eating when they are used. By reinventing traditions and challenge conventions, I believe that the experience of eating and the pleasures of dining can be enhanced and understood in new ways.” says Sarah Hurtigkarl.
