FAKT #034

FAKT’s installation for the Festival des Architectures Vives enrich the structural nature of architecture with a sense of physical excitement and ever-changing visual properties.

FAKT #034 is an installation piece realized in June 2015 in Montpellier for FAV, Festival des Architectures Vives.

The project works as a progressive experiment both spatially and structurally. Its aluminum structure clear spans 6.4m x 4.5m with only two sheets of 2mm thickness each.

FAKT’s proposal is an installation that overcomes the object but instead transcends into phenomenon – the cloudscape. It is an attempt to enrich the structural nature of architecture with a strong sense of physical excitement and ever-changing visual properties. The topics of lightness, weightlessness and soft borders all translate into a floating world.

It is reflective to its surroundings and reacts to the slightest shift in weather, light and colour conditions. Raindrops for instance generate sound and add to the reflection and movement of the structure.

It is soft, since its shape is only in a temporary balance, the thin aluminium sheets always in a subtle movement, resonating wind and temperature changes. It is semitransparent, there is no absolute border to its context, no clear inside or outside, above or below – only a constantly redefined visual dialogue between the object and the spectator as well as a constant transformation of the courtyard space through the changing image of shadow and light projected onto the ground and the facades.
