Belvedere in città
“Belvedere in Città” is a project created by Expo Milano 2015 and Telecom Italy that visualizes, through the use of drones, the progress of the Universal Exposition work site.
“Belvedere in Città” opens a window and a vantage point on the exhibition site of the Expo Milano 2015, which, thanks to new technologies such as 4G TIM and the network, will enable all citizens to follow its final stages of completion. The drone is guided by a certified pilot and will fly over the site during the lunch break, so as not to hinder the work of workers and technicians and for security reasons.
On November 24th, the flight took off to film the Corporate Pavilion of New Holland designed and curated by RecchiEngineering together with a multidisciplinary team composed of the author of the concept, the studio of Carlo Ratti Associati, together with NÜSSLI Italia, Manens-Tifs and Studio Durbano. The theme is New Holland’s commitment to sustainable and efficient agriculture. Immediately afterwards a sinous red building topped by a crane appears in the film: it is the Corporate Pavilion of Vanke, China's real estate giant that is creating a “Shitang” as a space dedicated to relaxation and conviviality, designed by Daniel Libeskind

The images then fade over the Bio-Mediterranean Cluster which once completed, will host 12 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and the Sicilian Region as Official Partners of Expo Milano 2015 and will coordinate the common area. A rundown on the new Swiss Pavilion allows us to see the completion of one of its modules.

Below are images of the Italian Pavilion, one of the landmarks of Expo Milano 2015, which with its six floors and 13,000 square meters is now completed and is among the tallest buildings on the Expo Site. Behind it we can see the Lake Arena, the largest space for outdoor events, capable of holding up to 20,000 people around a pool reflecting images of rainwater.

The drone then flies over the Corporate Pavilion of Intesa Sanpaolo, a multifunctional space of 1,000 square meters designed by Studio De Lucchi and made with modules of shingle and ecological and recyclable materials. Following this we then see a Pavilion which is now recognizable: that of Kazakhstan, which covers 2,393 square meters, whose exhibition itinerary can already be discerned.

Another shot allows us to see the first elements of the French Pavilion. To the right a white metal frame emerges: that of the Israel Pavilion, and can pick out the structure that will support a huge vertical garden, a symbol of the advanced technology solutions in of which Israel is a world leader to combat desertification.

The drone then heads off towards the Kuwait Pavilion, whose architectural concept was developed by the study of Italo Rota. You can see the metal structural of the Pavilion, which once completed, will offer a glimpse of the territory, the culture and the people of its country, with a structure offering an outline of the “dhow”, traditional Kuwaiti boats, which are still used in the waters of the Arabian Gulf.

Finally the drone hovers high above the area of Belgium, where white pillars are clearly visible. The last images offer a rundown of Pavilion Zero, where a covering is being applied to the metal structure. After a quick flight over areas of Belgium, ad passing over the Decumano, the film by the drone fades over the Pavilion of Angola.
