This new Iacchetti design is called Convivio and can be seen at the Urushi showroom, in Milan’s Brera district. Although it may look like a table when closed, it is actually a cooker, as part of the top can be raised, by remote control from an iPad, to reveal burners and a suction hood.

Recent environmental events have impacted on Japan, which has rediscovered a love of the family more traditionally associated with the Italian culture that, to use a cliché, is expressed by all the family members gathered around the dining table. The standard sizes of living spaces prompted the concentration of the functional elements in a single object and production development was entrusted to a small manufacturer in Northern Italy called Haute Material, which secured the role of main contractor.
Convivio is currently at the advanced prototyping stage (with all mechanisms functioning perfectly) but should go into production soon in modules of different sizes.
